It's about a group of amazing Hip Hop dancers and a show their putting on here in LA. I directed and photgraphed it with the help of my fantastic producer, 5 camera operators two PAs. All sound was handeled on camera to keep down the number of people back stage.
I have 106 hours of footage shot and there are still 4 schedueled pick-up days.
I have to say that although I've shot Doc TV shows on the DVX before, this film has proven to me what an amazing tool these little buggers are. Here are the specs. I hope to have a preview trailer up in a few days.
Three DVX100A's (Occasionally a 4th or an XL2)
Century Optics .6 and .7 wide angle lenses
3x lite Panels mini LED systems (This is THE solution for all low light shooting! Fully dimmable!)
2x Audio Technica AT4073a Shotgun mics (The best for under $1k)
2x Audio Technica AT835b Shotgun mics (A Compromise)
3x Sennheiser Evolution 100EW wireless mics (These worked flawlessly even in Burbank, where there are more TV transmitters than people)
Steadicam Flyer (I had so much fun with this little rig, it got me all the best intro and transition shots, especially in 30P overcranked to 24fps)
2x Lowel Fren-L 650 lights (Fantastic for night and interior interviews)
Home made flourecent ring light (perfect fill for the above interviews)
K5600 Joker 200W HMI (Edge/Back light for window light interviews)
Warm Cards (These things are awsome for getting skin tones just right)
JVC 9" Production monitor (These are all pro dancers and actors so I need to make them look good. For interviews the LCD just dosen't cut it.)
B+W Protector and Polarizing filters.
2x Bogen 525MVB Tripods w/503 heads.
Posting in FCP 5 on a Dual 1.8Ghz G5
Lacie Biggest F800 1.6 TB, Firewire 800, Raid 5 (105 hours of 23.98 DV)
Panasonic DV 2500 Deck.
2X 21" monitors
20" Sony Wega TV (For playback)
All shot in 24PA with the exception of the 30P stuff.
Now comes the really intersting part... Snip. snip.
