hi, having my gh3 out of order for few weeks, i am thinking to buy a temporary substitute. at first i was looking for gh2/1 but then i disceover G6, which look having all i might need(expect hdmi out). Now thing is, i fi buy it now i can't get a good price, but i ll have to get what i find, not as cheap as i expected. on the other hand if i consider that i might sell gh3 later..that would not be bad. Would you consider this "downgrade"? if it is a downgrade!

I would seriously consider a G6 as a temporary substitute and then a backup or even "B" cam for when the GH3 was repaired. I have 2 GH3's, sold one but it came back to me because the buyer could not get along with the EVF on those so I simply put it back into service. I've had no problems with either of mine.

Panasonic should be able to put your GH3 back to good usable condition so give that a try, but the G6 should get you by in the meantime. I would definitely go a G6 over the GH2, it does have improved video and added features over the GH2.

yes i suppose in a couple of week gh3 will be ok. as i can0t wait to have a camera to work with i had this idea to buy a g6. the thing is that right now i don t really need a b camera, that's wahy the idea of getting now a g6 and then if i am happy with it sell the gh3.actually for what i an read gh3 doesn't look that better than g6.technically speaking lack feature that g6 has. and i dont see in what it can be superior

G6 is an amazing little cam. Aliasing and moire seem better than on the GH3 (and GH4 in 1080p modes other than ETC). Weak codec numbers but strong look.

In terms of video quality, I like the image from the g6 more than the gh3, I never really fell in love with the gh3, however I did with the gh2, and g6. Maybe due to the fact they share the same sensor, idk.
