GH2 Would this be okay for a backup cam? Olympus E-PL1

I have one, it only shoots 720p30 and you can't lock shutter speed and it gets noisy in low lighting.

Aside from that, the image is nice and its been used as a crash cam in "Secretariat," which did pretty well. I've used it as a 3rd angle on a free music shoot for a friend and it did well enough.

are they $125 cheap? $500 is cheap considering. I already own a GH2, GoPro Hero 3 Black, cannon vixia R20 and D3100.

This is a "just in case" cam that's small with lens. Also be using this when i travel

You should look at buying a used Panasonic GF2 on eBay. You should be able to find one for $200 or less, and this camera has high bit-rate video hacks available for it just like the GH2.

amazon has one for $165 shipped.

hummmm...need to do some more research

Video is only 720, can't remember if progressive or interlaced.

I had one, it is the camera that got me into Micro Four Thirds. Mine came with the 14-42 "kit" lens and before long I ordered the two Lumix pancakes for it. I replaced it with the E-P3 and gave the E-PL1 to my brother in law. It's a helluva good little camera, takes great pictures and all your GH2 lenses will fit it. At that advertised price I would snap it up for still photo work.

The Pen E-P3 does nice video but is subject to horrible rolling shutter if not properly stabilized. For backup to your GH2 I would jump on either amazon or B&H special on GH2 body only for $499, and I would move on that fast. I expect inventories to deplete fast at that price.

Thanks for the information you provided. Im going to see if I can "swoop" up that GF2 $100 :) Waiting for en email back

just got a GF2 (with out battery and charge and lens) for $105 Shipped. :)

GH2 and GF2 use the same battery you know?

You guys think I should sell my D3100? It only has 17m of record time which does really help out much for weddings

I know I can go check on personal view, but.....is the GF1 PAL friendly? With the hacks I mean?

Obviously I'd love a 2nd GH2. But wondering.
