Would the GH2 band be acceptable on the AF100?

I just feel bad for the OP. He asked a seriously decent question looking for a decent answer. I understand it was in the wrong forum but I was hoping the answers would have been more leveled than this. If for example this was Phillip Bloom who shot a piece that had a lot of images like this only to find this band (that obviously not only occurs in sunlight) I wonder what type of response he would have received if he asked the same thing? It's a question that I would have also asked as I'm sure many others would too. In my eyes, as a consumer, Panasonic is Panasonic. But as a member of these boards I understand that there are different divisions within this one company. Nevertheless.....

So, it's a legit question in my mind.

Martin Scorsese needs to shoot a film on the GH2 and utilize this sensor problem as a visual motif that symbolizes the main character's inner turmoil. Then everybody would want that amazing "GH2 Horizontal Banding"!

It goes into production next week.

Thanks Ian-T. Feelin' the love through the screen ;)

Has anyone dared to tell those complaining about their "noisy" AF100s that they should have spent more and bought a camera from Panasonic's Super Pro division? Just a thought.

Sorry, but how difficult a project do you think it would be to simulate a video of "laser damage" with an After Effects plug-in?

Wait, what? Are you suggesting people would fake that up, just to... to... er...

Why would anyone do that? What on earth are you proposing here?

And can I have a go with your tinfoil hat when you're done with it?

Dslr footage with out of focus shots seems to be becoming a trendy thing too, shallow DOF is old hat now, full on blur is the new doorf ....!! Even Blooms onto it....

we should all go back to camcorders.

That someone might be tempted to post an alarmingly edited video on YouTube to see how many page hits they can stir up?

Of course, such a hoax would be highly immature, and on YouTube of all places!

I though I might as well add my two cents... A couple of years ago I learnt an expensive lesson while shooting an image of a tree directly backlit by the sun - It was a late afternoon sun and didn't feel that intense. Although the branches diffused some of the direct sunlight, part of the image was just direct sun. I was shooting with a sony hvr-v1. I can't exactly remember what f stop I was shooting at but I think it must have been somewhere around f/8. The shot only lasted around 10seconds. I think I repeated it two or three times. All good. Footage transfered clean. wonderful. Cut to: next day. I switched on my camera only to find thick green bands in my evf. I would switch it on and off and the bands would change but essentially it rendered the camera totally unusable. I sent the camera to Sony to sort out the problem and the sensor had "malfunctioned." They replaced it. It was out of warranty and cost me about $1200 to fix!
