Would somebody explain to me what this means?

I've read the FAQ by the way, but I'm still unclear about what this means:

On the Letus page

http://www.letusdirect.com/cart/letus35-extreme.html

in the "Options" section

Thread Size ??
Lens Mount ??
Rod Support System ??
Additional Thread Size ??
Additional Lens Mount ??

I thought they were only selling Letus adapters, are they selling rail systems and Lenses too? Sorry I'm just confused.

Anyway, are all of these "extras" really necessary?
This guy here says he used the Letus adapter + Lens without any rail system or Matte whatsoever....he got decent results too....check him out:

I may try do the same. Any major disadvantages with this approach?

Well the thread size is the threads on the front of your camera in order to mount the letus. The Lens mount is the mount specific to the company of still lenses you intend on using, so both of those are mandatory. You do not NEED to get additional mounts or thread sizes if say all your going to be using is nikon lenses on your dvx. The rail system is almost a must have, yes technically you dont need it, and its not going to effect your image, but the threads on the front of your camera were not meant to hold a signigicant amount of weight, a rail system relieves some of this stress. Check out indie focus, they have a great rail system with shoulder mount and handles as well as a solif follow focus unit. Oh thats another thing, your going to want to get a follow focus unit eventually, you can manage without one, but they are super handy and so is a mattebox expecially when using filters, a necessity if your using big 4x4 filters.

So ya, thats what the deal is.

Thread Size - The filter size your camera's stock lens takes? ie: DVX100(A)(B) = 72mm and HVX200(A) 82mm.

Lens Mount - What type of lenses you plan to use? ie: Nikon, Canon FD, M42, OCT 19, ETC.

Rod Support System - How do you plan on supporting the letus when used in conjunction with the camera? Do you already have a support system? If not i would recommend some type of 15mm rail support ie: Letus, IndiFocus, Shoot35, Cavision etc.

Additional Thread Size - Do you want to use the letus on a DVX (72mm) and maybe use it on a HVX (82mm)? Additional thread sizes allow you to mount different cameras to the letus.

Additional Lens Mount - Do you plan to use different brand and or types of lenses? ie: Canon Fd lenses need an Fd mount. Nikon needs a nikon mount so on and so forth.

You are definitely going to need to know what kind of lens mount you need and you are positively absolutely going to need at least one.

My suggestion would be to read up more and get a better idea of your package you are trying to build before ordering and making a mistake> Good Luck
