Would one ever need to go back to original HVX source footage?

I am in the process of cleaning up the files on a computer for a company I work for. In the past, we have always imported the "source footage" of the HVX (Contents folder + lastclip.txt) into a location we called our P2 archive. After that, we would log and transfer in FCP and then make a back up of those quicktimes to another location. My question now is would I ever need to potentially go back to the original source footage for any reason or are we for lack of a better word futureproof (or as futureproof as we would be if we had the original files straight from the HVX?)? All of my quicktimes are:

DVCPRO HD 720p60, 960 x 720 (1248 x 702), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Center, 48.000 kHz

only you can accurately answer this question. but:

if you did a log and transfer of the ENTIRE card and cant imagine any need to take the original footage over to say an avid or windows computer.
then yeah. you can trash that.

if it were me though, id keep em. drive space is cheap. nice to have backups if your quicktimes go bad.

In terms of making sure we transfered everything, of that I am positive. My only real concern was if there was any way the HVX originals could ever become higher quality than the QTs. I have multiple backs of the QTs in case they ever became corrupted including off-sites.

some people argue it. but afaik, the converted quicktimes are the same quality as the source mxf data
