Would it be possible to remove the viewfinder? Has anyone tried?

Hi. I use a Cineroid viewdfinder and the LCD screen - never the EVF as I find it next to useless. Has anyone tried removing it, as it really just gets in the way? Looks like it may be a straightforward thing to do?

I asked about having this done to my HVX200 a few years ago and was told that it was a bad idea. I actually wanted to remove it and attach a cable so I could use it as an external EVF.

I guess you could just unscrew it and cut the ribbon cable, but you'd never get it back together again. And of course you'd void the three year warranty. I seldom use the finder either, but occasionally, on a tripod or when the Cineroid dies (mine did), it's nice to have an eyepiece backup.

It would be a great idea if the VF could be removed and used in a shouldermount configuration.
The next model with a removable VF; just a socket behind the VF and the VF attached with a plug and cable, just as in the old days.

Viewfinder.... ? You can removed the eye piece. It will require a service center to get it back on, so I would not do it unless you know you will never use it. ( like me )

I must be one of the few who uses it and think it works fine as is...

You know I find myself using it more than the LCD screen mainly because the EVF is in b&w. I think on my next shoot I will try to pull all the color out of the LCD and see if that makes it more tempting to use.

The AF100 EVF can be removed and you end up with an exposed ribbon cable that needs to be tucked inside. This procedure will surely void your warranty. But if you want to save the weight, I know a certain company that can perform this removal safely.
