worth taking this class?

There is a DSLR boot camp (class) every few months in Los Angeles and it cost $499 I was wondering if anyone in this group has taken this class and did you learn a lot? The class is around 3 - 4 hour long so that comes out around $160 an hour.

I keep hearing these climbing costs for various video workshops... and it makes me think one might be better off finding an excellent local videographer/DP/etc. and just asking to pay their day rate for a full day's mentoring.
