I think it is.  Roughly, if you use your DVX to capture everything that you shoot with your DVX, you double the wear on the heads and cut the time in between cleanings in half.

I agree. I already had a cheaper camera lying around, so that became my edit deck.

It's up to you. Some people use their DVX for everything, some are more cautious. I'm a panzy so I don't even use my dvx for recording. I bought an extra shitty camera for that also. Can't you tell from my footage? ;)
