Worth buying a new FS100?

I'm in the market for an FS100, upgrading from VG20. I can't afford FS700 so wondering if its still worth buying a new/secondhand FS100. Anybody know if there's an FS100 mkII or an FS200 about to come out ?

Still wondering would anyone buy a new FS100?

I'm sure somebody would, but it's much wiser to buy it used now. You can get one for USD 3000 or even significantly less, if you look around with some patience. Right now prices on Ebay have gone up but they will come back down.

I just bought one for $3,400.00 with 10 hrs on the clock. I too, upgraded from a VG20. One of the better moves I have made.

Be aware that the first firmware upgrade did at times (at least on both of my cameras) reset the hours to 0. I'm not saying that was always the case. I made a post about that, but saw no replies.

Thanks guys, going to look for a used FS100 in Uk. New Price seems a bit excessive. Surprisingly not too many around for sale .Many thanks for advice.

Im considering letting mine go for 4000euros +vat, but not entirely sure yet....

It comes as a package deal with the following:
18-200mm lens
Pelicase 1510
Shooting Machine top handle and mic mount stud
Several Transcend cards (2x 8 & 2x 16gb)
Several lens adapters
Metabones Speed Booster

Original top handle is broken.

Bought at Prokit.co.uk

After two years of renting FS100s at work, I was stunned to see used prices drop below $3000 (on the camera bodies at least) so I went ahead and bought one for myself as a "baseline" camera -- for projects that don't have the budget for a camera rental. Even with all of the talk about Canon's new raw video features and BlackMagic's admittedly impressive offerings, this still seems to be the most stable and fully-featured camera for this price point on the market right now. I think that it's a really good value for videographers and ultra-low budget filmmakers alike.

The FS100 is great. I bought it when it just hit the market, the best option for the price at that time. If I could do it over I would go for the canon C100 because it has better colors imo.
Also better highlight rolloff and it might be a littlebit sharper.
For under €4000 you can also buy a kineraw mini in berlin, http://www.kinefinity.tv/
I am thinking about selling the fs100 to buy a kineraw mini, because of the more high-end production demand.

3000? Wow! I saw them go for 1500 to 1800 Euros here in Germany.

As much as I love my BMCs, I gonna keep my FS100. Still a great little camera that can do a lot for the money.

Just shot this in a a super dim Army tent. I lit it just with a few bare 100W household tungsten bulbs dangling from the ceiling @ 1600 ISO.

Not too shabby I would say (original is much sharper, this is compressed to death several times)

I like the camera a lot. I would say go with a used on. With the prices of the used ones the way they are now, I have been seriously thinking about picking up another one.

Probably not many around because they are excellent value for the buck. A few quirks here and there but nothing you can't overcome. I must say I am certainly happy that I didn't sell my FS100 when the FS700 came out. There may be an F5 in my future but I would hate to be going through the hardware upgrade and external recorder expense. Mind you I have no immediate need for 4k now anyway. Good luck with your new camera!
