worst nightmare... brand new DVX100B

I'm glad I live in a peaceful place... But you rock, would love to see it taped. I'll remember that next time something happens and I have my camera. I actually dropped it today after swapping tapes, but caught it mid-air :cheesy: damn, that scared the hell out of me. First time I've actually dropped a camera...

Rubix, glad you and the camera are both safe! I too am like you, a little paranoid, but where I live its really really safe. But when I travel overseas I take great care with the camera and always look behind my shoulder and have the strap round me all the time.

But make sure you get insurance. Paying 200 bucks to insure your DVX is minimal compared to losing it, and also losing a tooth or two in the event you get into an ugly fight.

But yeah if I ever was in your situation, I would kick the guy too - tae kwon do style, but maybe not if they were a gang of them..

There's a story in yesterday's edition of the local paper about a guy that was filming the homeless. One of the homeless demanded $5 from the cameraman, and then threatened to kill him and to take the camera. The perpetrator violated the conditions of his parole and is being held without bail.

Since reproduction of the story without permission is not permtted, here's the link to the PDF edition of the paper -- the story is in the "Crime Watch" section of page 6:
