Worst movies eveeeeeeeeer!!!

Man, people have listed quite a few films here that were only terrible by some pretty unique standards. Hostel? G.I. Joe? Resident Evil? Thelma and Louise? The list goes on and it's a bizarre list.

These movies are only bad compared to their brethern -- other movies that have also been box office and (sometimes) critical successes. Compared to 99% of every indie movie ever made by every louse with a camcorder these movies are all brilliant.

The title of the thread needs to be worst SUCCESSFUL movies of all time. These movies are only being crticized because they were successful and made lots of money.

Found it in a sales basket and bought in for 1.99 euro (2.88 dollar): Ablaze (mostly stock footage, recycled other movies footage and much more so-bad-it's-funny-stuff).

(I wrote a questionaire quiz for my coworker who is into firefighting and safety professionally. I gave hime the dvd, telling him it was awesom and that he wasn't allowed to read my questions untill after he'd seen the movie. The questions were obviously about the ridiculous errors in storyline, logic, firefighting-stuff.)

This "production house" too: http://www.imdb.com/company/co0043571/
Except - Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus... that is incredibl.....y disastrous...is there anything worse than worst?

Here's one for you, Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus had the 8th highest viewed trailer of 2009. Shocking! Here is the list of the most viewed trailers of 2009.

3. 2012 (Sony)

Sorry, but just because you disagree with what some people list doesn't mean you get to change what the thread is about. The OP wanted to know which movies people DISLIKED the most, he didn't ask anything about bad "successful" movies.

The fact that I completely disagree with his position on Inglorious Basterds doesn't matter. He's entitled to his opinion about any film out there.

So, what films have you disliked the most, Chamber?

Stephen,

Sorry if your post was in refference to my above post, just thought it would be some fun trivia because several of the movies on the list were mentioned.

Ok, back on topic.

I'm surprised no one has mention Ed Woods Plan 9 From Outerspace.

Nah, Chip. We're good. I was responding to Chamber (now quoted), who seems to disagree with the opinions of a few others here.

And as far as Ed Wood's work goes, here's my take…

"Worst movies ever" are judged, by me, on a sliding scale. In Wood's world, it wouldn't have mattered if they had the greatest script on the planet. There was no talent in front of or behind the camera, so the movie was never going to be anything but bad. None of the pieces were in place to make a good movie, so in my mind, as bad as it was, it was not surprisingly bad.

Now, think about a movie like Gigli. There was (arguably) talent everywhere on this film. Martin Brest, who directed "Midnight Run", was the director. And the movie had Christopher f'ing Walken in it. The pieces were in place to make a good, if not great movie. Yet the failure was epic.

Bad movies are bad movies, no doubt. But to me, "worst movie" designation belongs to films that had an opportunity to not suck, yet grabbed the brass ring of suckage anyway.

Oooh, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever is a great addition to this list. Now that is an awful movie.

I think it was Joel Siegel who summed up his review of that movie with
"This movie has two of the worst attributes you could ask for - too stupid to watch and too loud to sleep through"

Not one breath of mention of Highlander 2. Fascinating. I guess most, like me, simply refuse to acknowledge that it even exists. :)

Battlefield Earth (or is that too obvious?)
Feast II

Battlefield Earth lives in more of a so-bad-its-good category. At least its not alone. It has Krull to keep it company.

Feast was actually decent, and I haven't seen Feast II yet. If you can believe it, they've even got a Feast III too. Who would've thought we'd have a trilogy out of a Project Greenlight film?

Movies like this make me miss the cheesy martial arts flicks of the 80's.

Why did the martial arts genre turn into angsty teens in wannabe fight clubs all of a sudden?

Hell yes. I love some of the cheesy but fun martial arts flicks of the 80's.

Enter the Ninja
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Cyborg
American Ninja
The Delta Force (which also has some really catchy synth-keyboard music)
The Last Dragon
Steven Seagal flicks (where he's always a badass cop)
