Whether it be terrible acting, bad stoylines, over the top CGI, there are some real stinkers out there.

Let me know what movies you dislike, and what you dislike about them.

I will start with a very recent movie I saw-Inglorious Basterds.......TERRIBLE. Brad Pitt's worst on screen performance, and the most horrible ending of any Tarantino film I've seen.

i can imagine a silhouette of theater seats, 2 robots and a man ripping "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (Brendan Fraser) a new one.

Starship Troopers?

Admittedly in criticizing this film as the "worst ever" I miss what Verhoven was trying to say; it was intended as a sort of propaganda film, which puts the things you might deride in the film in a different light, that is, the result of choice rather than mere incompetence or lack of talent. So the bad acting of the strangely cast lead, who's just too plastic and square-jawed, comes off as logical in a propaganda film funded by the military of the world he shows us in the film itself. That doesn't mean I still can't think he could have made a film better in terms of style, or at least different; but I can't fault the choices he made if he accomplished what he set out to do.

With this in mind, maybe it's possible you didn't see what Tarentino was going for?

i actually liked Starship Troopers. It was one of the few films that go all-out, but aren't pretentious...take it for what it's worth. Not a film for the times, just a good flick.

then there's Showgirls.

I'll be in the minority here perhaps, but aside from XXX (Triple X with Vin Diesl) for some of the worst acting and dialogue EVER,

and Twilight for being the longest CK1 perfume ad turned movie EVER,

I have to say Thelma and Louise sucked. There was no hidden crevice in my gray matter that could remotely connect the ending to the rest of the movie. I'm a woman and I've tried. It made me want to climb into the projection window and not only destroy the projector, but break it down into small enough pieces so I could eat it and flush it down the toilet later. So, in a move solely designed to retain my sanity, I have mentally edited the original ending of T&L. I now have Olivia Newton John and John Travolta flying off into the wild bluescreen yonder a la Grease. It helps me sleep at night.

My friend worked on this film called Monsoon, which I had the misfortune of being invited to the cast and crew screening in Beverly Hills. It screened at the Academy of Arts & Sciences, and for some reason, Mario Van Peebles got up to introduce the film despite not being involved in the production. My wife and I could barely contain our laughter at the awfulness on display, and then, afterwards had to pretend like it wasn't the worst thing we'd ever seen while surrounded by the cast, crew and director.

"Well...um...we liked the ending!"

While I enjoyed Starship Troopers, it was very different than the novel. I actually think that now with there being three films in the series, that if someone went back to the original novel and did a complete reboot it would not be a bad idea.

If anything, a serious minded big budget Starship Troopers could be a good companion piece to Ridley Scott's supposed adaptation of The Forever War.

As for worst movies ever... being that I am a huge science fiction fan, I'll gladly throw a couple of awful sci-fi films from the 90's to the wolves, Johnny Mnemonic and Virtuosity.

Hostel - after Tarantino claimed it was the scariest movie he had ever seen I figured it could hold it's own, turns out characters are more shallow than a soup bowl and it's just glamorized blood and guts, no scares, hated it
Paranormal Activity - while I will admit that shooting a blockbuster horror film for $11k is an awe inspiring feat, the last 5 seconds of the movie were terrible - SPOILER ALERT - why does the possessed woman apparently eat the camera and leave the rest of the footage on the hard drive/computer? just plain silly
Fighting - uninspired writing, painful acting and a bunch of unmotivated mano-a-mano action
Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Shia takes a vine ride with the monkeys in the jungle canopy and somehow catches up with the rest of the cast? and I had such high hopes....

I'll probably add some others as the unpleasant memories come back
