The quality of execution will obviously be paramount here but, at least, the Chinese dared to reverse-engineer the EF mount while the Japanese manufacturers tend to cover (and manufacture) for each other.

Naturally, this will make the EF mount lenses even more popular.

Looks great!
It would be fantastic to be able to put a Canon 24-70mm 2.8L lens on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera or a Panasonic GH4 and have proper iris control!

Thanks for the tip - you fool!
(don't know what that was about...guy lurks for 7 years only to pop out and post THAT?...)

Plus Sigma Art + Tokina + Tamron. This really opens up a slew of options ... presuming the quality holds up.

And even Mr. T can't pity that.

I wonder how tight the adapter will fit? Their previous version with it's own iris had a bit of slop, whereas Metabone's are snug.

Considering that Sigma's cameras are of their own design, this is probably lens related -

Nikon Corporation (Kazuo Ushida, President, Tokyo, hereafter referred to as “Nikon”) announces that it reached a judicial settlement as of April 21, 2015 with regard to the patent infringement lawsuit (hereafter referred to as “Lawsuit”) filed by Nikon against Sigma Corporation (hereafter referred to as “Sigma”) in the Tokyo District Court on May 25, 2011.

After receiving the Intellectual Property High Court's recommendation for settlement, Nikon has decided to make a judicial settlement, since it saw that swiftly resolving this matter through settlement would be the best way after its comprehensive examination of the progress of the Lawsuit including the Tokyo District Court's decision.

Nikon will receive settlement money from Sigma. Additional terms and conditions of the settlement, including the amount of settlement money, are subject to confidentiality obligation between Nikon and Sigma.

Nikon estimates that the financial impact of this settlement is minimal.

Adorama seems to be the exclusive retailer for the Kipon products in the US and, if I surmise correctly, this piece will run $320 once it's available.

The EF-S 10-18 f4.5-5.6 is $250. That would make a decent wide angle option on a BMPCC. Although not very fast.

The first videos are out -

Which shows the adapter used in still mode.... am I the only here who thinks this was made for still photo mode?! (Notice the camera settings for each shot.... Who in the world would want to keep pressing their shutter release to do a re-focus when filming?
In my opinion this is just the very first step.... but until something A LOT better comes along I'm not going to use this for video / film.

In the mean time, Aputure's DEC remote wireless looks like a good option for traditional handling.

Anyone tried that out yet?

I don't think that's what the big deal is here. The big deal is that it's a cheap electronic EF adapter for m43. Which means that you can change aperture and use IS with a bonus of AF in stills mode. Your only other options would be a more expensive Metabones adapter or a cheap mechanical EF adapter you can't change aperture or use IS with, which cancels out all first party Canon glass.

Well... yes of course it was made for still photo mode, people will mostly be using them on.... drum roll.........still photo cameras! You seem to have forgotten this in criticizing the video reviewer for showing how quickly the AF works in photo mode. It may very well work just find in video mode but AF in large sensor video still is not mainstream. im buying this in a heartbeat to use all my canon glass on my gh4, for both photo and video purposes.
