Question: If the camera only records the required 24 frames per second to P2 in 720p mode - why is the file 60P? Was this introduced by the editing program? If so, was it possible to do frame-accurate edits, or was cutting done in a 60P timeline?

I seem to recall from somewhere (probably the new brochure) that 720P can be recorded as actual frames (ie 24 frames per second only) OR in 60P with redundent frames (I believe this might be for compatability with varicam footage - don't quote me on this stuff though).

Got it (1080)

They both look really nice. I like the 1080 but the shot is kind of 'Ehhh'. It'd be better if lighted more theatrical; it's so flat because of the lighting and levels.

A simple fix:

I suspect they used Compressor to compress the files and something got messed up with the settings.

Nice great quality footage, only think I noticed was a drop out in the 720p version about 13-14 secs into it.

Thanks guys! I owe you one:beer:

Sheeesh... that one ball looks friggin nuclear now!! ;)

Ok, I just jumped on this thread. The images are awesome. For all worrying about the 1080 footage, don't fret. If you went to Resfest, that footage was 1080i and on the big screen it looked freaking beautiful, so 1080p footage should theoretically be better. I thought the shot of the pool table had good shallow depth of field. Juan who did the mod for the DVX need to get this camera and pull a 4:4:4 uncompressed signal out of it. It was worth the wait for this camera and IMHO it blows away the Canon, JVC and Sony prosumer cameras. I'm sure there will be more about the camera in the coming days.

Sorry guys.. pretty nuts over here.

Barry and Jan are on the floor of the Expo if anyone wants to see him at DVexpo, and Im going back and forth. Lots of HVX's around.

I will try and encode a WMV-HD file for people that cant watch quicktime flavours.

As for the raw files.. I will think about it, remember, 30 seconds is a 500mb file.

Ha ha look at us all HVX junkies looking for our next fix. Also does anyone know if any other thread has generated so many replies in so little time. Been on the site for some time but never seen this kind of activity in such a short space of time. Thank you Jarred youve made my christmas.:)

Dang that 720P looks good!

The 1080 is only 720 and appears to have something scaling wise wrong with it.

Thank You Panny. It looks great !!!

Why cant I open 1080? HELP?!

Make sure you have the entire 54,747KB of data. Also try downloading again by selecting 'save target as'. Just a thought.

as john pointed out, definitely in need of some color correction, but otherwise looked good. the 1080 was chunky on my crap system but i think i got the gist. thanks for the share guys. some slomo stuff would be killer ;)
