Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue working with the ProRes files from my Atomos Shogun (FS5 to SDI raw to ProRes).
As Alister Chapman has pointed out the FS5's ProRes slog2 files are full/data range. However Final Cut Pro X interprets them (incorrectly) as legal range. What this means is that the usual LUTs I use during grading don't work properly.
In Resolve, this is easily handled by telling the program to treat the files as full range. They then match the internal files and the usual LUTs work just fine.
As far as I can tell, there is no option for this in FCPX.
I generally try to avoid going back and forth between Resolve and FCPX, since the XMLs rarely seem to move between programs without issue. So far the only workaround I found was adjusting the contrast of the ProRes clips to roughly match the externally recorded clips to the internal ones (using waveform). By doing so the LUTs generally work as intended, although still needed some work.
Is there a better way of doing this? I have tried Googling and asking around elsewhere but haven't found anything.
Thanks in advance!
