I am working on various kit parts for the FS5 as you may know from earlier posts.

here is my first version of my Extension kit for the handle, it uses parts from my FS700 kit.

These are just iPhone photos of Beta Version 1. I am trying to make this as light as possible and there will be a detachable option for a couple shoulder/chest braces. I already have the 15mm rail quick release parts for sale on my WEBstore.

This will all be part of my modular kit.

Let me know if you have any interest in this. I will make a beta batch this week.

What is your thinking on pricing for the extension?
It will probably be in the $200.00 - $250.00 range.

It is actually a pretty complex project because of the way Sony used the bayonet mount. One nice bonus of switching to rosettes is the irritating "click", or slight looseness in the bayonet mount is eliminated.

I currently have the V2 of the parts and it is more compact. I find that using the extension really means you need a contact to your chest or shoulder or the balance is worse. The FS5 is really very nice just as is. I see the extension as working well with either an over the shoulder brace or a small brace against your chest. I am playing with those right now.

Do you find confortable film¡ng this way? Any improvement holding the camera? Which visor do you suggest using with the area extension?
Thanks

Olof, hows the extension arm progressing?

I am trying to come up with a fast way to switch back to compact w/o extension. The current method uses 16 screws, not good IMHO.

I will post here as I progress. Currently in the middle of a long edit on a doc...

The grip mounts with what's basically a lens bayonet, right? Male side on the grip, female side on the camera. So then why not just make an arm/extension that has the male side on the camera end, and a female side on the grip end? With a coiled LANC extension cable attached? Seems like the quickest and simplest way to switch between your shoulder setup (with the extension arm) and your handheld setup (grip right on the body).

Yes that can be done. But it is very complex and expensive to make. Also there is a problem when you rotate the handle extension to the back as the bayonet only rotates so much so handle would not be comfortable in the back position, and it should be. The rosettes allow for infinite adjustments on both the arm and the handle.
