Working around the blue shift problem

I'm planning to shoot a feature this fall and I'm wondering what the best way to avoid the blue shift problem is. In another thread I saw that using manual lenses and/or using the standard gamma curve will prevent the shift from happening. Unfortunately someone reported having blue shift anyways using a manual lens/standard gamma.

I've already had the blue shift mess up one of my shots (fortunately the project was just for fun). The problem is that it's not predictable. At around 17:50 here (http://vimeo.com/13054773), you can see the actor's face suddenly change color. That was shot on smooth with the Panny pancake. The shot in question was with the GH13 hack.

I used manual white balance. I think I'm going to stick to standard even though I really like smooth. I just hope I don't get the same problems in standard which would defeat the purpose of changing to a less desirable gamma curve.

Did that weird firmware found on the French site end up doing anything about blue shift? That thread kind of just ended.

You are tripping out. The guys face changed colors because of the light from the TV screen.

On my GH1, I shoot with the white balance +1 X and -1 Y on the grid in all white balance modes. But that doesn't mean its the right thing for everyones projects.

Now that I look at it, it probably was the TV doing that. I'm still paranoid though haha.
