Should I choose .mov or .mxf for 1080p25, 50 Mbit Long GOP (?) when I want to import the footage to avid media composer 5.5 (soon 6)/mac? Do I need to transcode when importing? How long does it take?

I have the nanoflash, but not Avid, so I can't really say which is better. When working on PC's (using Premiere) then MXF is the best option. When working on Macs (using FCP) then MOV was the best option.

However CD provide a free MOV to MXF converter that works well and very fast (I have this installed on a PC - Im not sure if there is a version for a Mac). Sony provide a free MXF to MOV converter that is meant to work well, though I have not used it.

Do you have a copy of Avid (or can you get a free trial)? The best thing would be to just record a couple of small sample clips in each format and actually test them to see which works best on your software.
