Workflow help please

Just got the HVX200A and disappointed the manual has almosty nothing on workflow. I'm having problems undertanding this and start a shoot on Monday.

Basically I downloaded P2 viewer and was able to view files. I then copied the files via explorer to my external drive. I am now trying to view the files off my hard drive but P2 viewer does not seem to be able to allow me to.

What am I doing wrong? How can I view the files on the hard drive please?
 
There's a PDF manual for P2 Viewer that gets installed wherever you installed the program, so be sure to look in there. Yes you can view clips from the hard disk, you have to register the folder as a "virtual card" and then set up your bin to show the contents of that virtual card.

I'm using Windows XP on my laptop and haven't got an NLE installed on it.

I am testing out the camera and have installed the P2 driver and P2 viewer. Intitally I could watch the video off the P2 card which was recognised as a drive but when I copy the contents folder to my external drive, I cannot open it. P2 viewer doesn't seem to be able to let you navigate to a location on your computer.

I've tried registering the 'Contents' folder in theexternal drive as a virtual one but still no change. Do I regsiter the entire 'Contents' folder or the 'Video' sub-folder? Also when you say set the bin to show contents of the virtual card, do you mean go into the View menu, select 'Show Primary bin' and then select the folder there?

Sorry about all these naive questions, i've tried everywhere but can't find anywhere I can read up on this.
