Workflow for QT 10 screen recording with FCP

I'm planning a little project which involves combining screen recordings from QT 10 with HDV footage.

I grabbed some screen recordings today and tried to add them to an FCP sequence which had HDV footage (encoded into Prores 422). FCP denied the import as 'unknown file.' I converted to MP4 in QT 7 and, as one would expect, it needed rendering, but looked like crap.

Anyways, if anyone has done this, I'd appreciate some hints for a workflow.

Thanks in advance.

Convert the screencast grab to the codec you intend to use in FCP, which you indicated is HDV, not mp4.

mp4 is a delivery codec, not an editing codec. HDV is an editing codec and that is what the screencast video should be transcoded to.

Thanks.
The codec on the screen recording is H.264. Even if FCP would except it, I don't have the horsepower to work with it.

I've just tried transcoding it to Prores with compressor and that seems to work fine but, holy crap, my 30 second test clip was 8.4 MB now it's 198 MB.
