GH4 Workflow advice: 4K Premiere sequence settings w GH4 footage if outputting to 1080p?

The 1080p image quality gains from a 4K GH4 file are well documented, but I've got a basic workflow question to extract the maximum IQ from my 4K files destined for FullHD output:

I've got a basic two cam interview I shot with the GH4. I'm wondering how to maximize the extra information when editing and outputting to 1080p in Premiere Pro. Will I have equal sharpness and color information gains if I edit on a 1080p timeline and output to 1080p as if I edit on a 4K timeline and output to 1080p? Is it the same effect in the end?

Newmann Fillms has a nice video on this, just ignore the RED stuff.

Edit in a 1080p timeline and switch to 4k at final render. It's editing in 4k without the hassle.
"Default scale to frame size" in Premiere apparently makes this possible by making a sort of 1080 proxy from your 4k files.
I don't know how this compares to actual proxies (time consuming to make) but I will be trying it out.

with red's huge files it makes a lot of sense to use the "proxy" option. But with Gh4's compressed files I just edit them straight in a 1080 timeline using the scale effect. This also gives me more freedom f I need to crop the frame a little.

Bumping this thread!

I'm finding Premiere's 1080 exports unimpressive compared to it's 4k exports (scaled on the fly in Q-time during playback).
Since both edited in 4k, and of similar file size and bitrate (1.1 GB@39 Mbps 1 VS .98GB@33 Mbps) they should look similar no?
Well as per the thread title, if anyone has found a workflow to bring out what I do not understand, please share.

The general rule is to edit in a sequence that matches your footage. Worry about the export specs when it comes time to export. Unless you plan to reframe the shots, this rule is still good advice with the GH4's 4K media.

Yeah I just setup a 1080p 23.98 timeline and then drop all my 4K stuff in there and highlight them all, right-click, and then select "scale to frame size."

Easy peasy.
