Work Flow for 60i / 24p Slow Motion

The DVX Book is GREAT! I'm trying to implement the slow motion effect as described in the book. It says to shoot 60i at 120 and edit into 24p timeline at 40% speed. OK. Do I capture 60i footage into 24p project and reduce to 40% speed, or capture 60i footage into 60i project, reduce to 40% and export, and then import into 24p project or ... you get my point. Has anybody worked out the specifics for this using Avid? I've tried the above mentioned ways but didn't like the results so I decide to join the forum and ask the question here. Thanks in advance...

You need to do this in several steps - capture the 60 fields in a 30i project. Use a Fluidmotion effect to create a progressive output at 50% speed (2x slomo to 60 frames, not fields). Export as QT reference and bring into the 24p project. WHen played it will be 60fps as 24fps creating a 2.5 slomo.

The issue is that FluidMotion in Xpress Pro only has presets. I will create at preset for this in Adrenaline and post it to my website.

Here is a link for directions on creating the slomo using FluidMotion. For Xpress Pro HD uses, download the bin with all the presets already made. There is a 30i to 60p as well as all other frame rate conversions already created.
