Wow this camera is amazing!! If you guys dont have dSLR, go with canon! For the price, i dont think you can beat this camera. Canon's having some major rebates right now so keep your eye out for em. Also, the more lenses you buy, the more you save. My DVX is already getting jealous... ::)

I'm such a prosumer junkie...

that's probably why i'm broke ;D

Cool! not surprised you like it!! (Canon eos 10d here)...

As for lenses:
70-210 f4 (from wayyyy back when)
35-70 f3.5-5.6 (also from waaayyyy back when)
70-200 f4L (beautiful colours...)
17-40 f4L (normal w/a on a 1.6x body)
50 f1.8 mkII (love it for portaits)
28-135 F3.5-5.6 IS (walkaround lense for me...)

Photography is fun again... ;D

My two D70's would like a tag team match up with your digital rebel...they said something about deciding one and for-all who has the best plastic-bodied DSLR.

Seriously though...having a DSLR in your hands makes you wonder how anyone ever used a point and shoot digicam.

I bought a Digital Rebel last October and kept it for one weekend before I returned it and paid the difference for a 10D. The Rebel is nice, but it just felt too 'plastic-y' and fragile for me. The 10D feels more substantial and has a few more features like mirror lock-up for long exposures, etc.

However, I do love the standard lens that comes with the Rebel. The lens is incredibly wide even with the 1.6 magnification factor.

Unfortunately, that lens is proprietary to the Rebel and will not work with the 10D.

Rich- Right now i only have a 28-105 b/c i cant afford any of those fancy shmancy L lenses. I've gotten some really nice shots out of it thus far. I'm really itching for a sigma 180mm macro and a 70-200L f/4.

Paul- I wish i had all those lenses! I'm uber jealous.

J_Barnes- I've heard great things about the Nikon. Both cameras kick ass... you really cant go wrong with either one.

Phil- wedding gift? Oh man im too young to be married! ahh!

Terry_Lasater- yeah i know what you mean about all the plastic. Not a big fan of it, but it doesnt really bother me a whole lot. I also got a battery grip which makes it a lot more substantial now. I've heard there's some russian firmware that makes the rebel similar to the 10d, do you know anything about this?

Dan - I'm not familiar with the Russian firmware, but the Rebel is practically the same camera as the 10D with a few exceptions. One being the mirror lock-up feature. I forget the rest at the moment as it was just over one year ago that I made the purchase.

Obviously, it would take more than a firmware update to give the digi Rebel mirror lock-up and a more robust body, etc.

I used to be big on the Canon EOS 10D, i was using them when I was doing the beach weddings for photography and my friend has one that I use for weddings I pick up on the side. I used the Gary Fong settings and it improved it a great deal, but I would still have to spend time in Photoshop.

The business I do wedding videos for just got the Fuji S2 :D, and it blows the 10D and Digital Rebel out of the water :'(. There is no comparison. She brought childrens portraits into my photo lab (part time gig for insurance) and they were unbelievable, you couldn't tell it wasn't film it was that good.

Not fair. You're comparing a brand new model (Fuji S2) against a Canon 10D that has been on the market more than a year?

Also, I bought my own damn camera. :P

Don't worry, I'm jealous.

I'm tempted to buy a digital rebel but I'm going to wait until the next generation since I have no use for one right now (though I want one a LOT!) Anyhow, enjoy the camera. dSLRs are sooooo awesome.

The S2 has been on the market for almost a year. Fuji is about to come out with the S3 soon. Also, Canon is coming out with the 20D pretty soon. Fuji just has been one step ahead of Canon. Nikon finally got enough sense to take the D-100 off the market, for the price that thing was horrible. point & Shoot digitals in the $250.00 range were taking better pictures than that camera.

ive had the 20d for almost 2 months. that thing rocks! just got the 17-40...so sweet...

dan- there is a 50mm lens that my friend got for his canon that supposadly kicks ass...its not a canon lens..cant remember the name, but its pretty cheap and is a really fast lens...i have been meaning to pick one up, i will ask him which one it is and send you a link. i think its less then 150.00.
