Wireless Video Transmitter

I'm looking for a battery powered video transmitter / receiver to that I can monitor an unmanned remote HMC. It only need to be SD (obviously) but needs to be battery powered.

Suggestions?

Front to the back of a good size church ;) In terms of size, probably not very important - as long as the battery lasts > 1 hour.

I don't have any suggestions for a wireless setup, but I know they can get pretty expensive and unreliable.

I think it might be cheaper to hire someone to monitor it for you. ;)

Here is a new on camera solution that does excellent quality H.264 streaming video over Wi-fi. Not cheap though, around $2k. HDMI or HDSDI only.

wht do you need to monitor? Framing? If so there are a number of security application transmitter/receivers that will take a composite signal and send it and recieve it well enough to allow you to judge your composition but certainly not quality of image. If that is what you are looking for let me know or do an ebay search. If it is just a couple of hundred feetgo with the hard wire kits for very little like the Cat5 mentioned above.

You might beable to find a box that turns your video into cat5 networking cable. i know its out there, do a search on the net..

Laying cables is not an option.

Err... I would / could do it myself if there were room to stand there - and assuming you were allowed to stand there. Often there is no room and you would not be allowed anyway.

More a case of knowing what it's getting so that you can shoot another camera (or cameras) accordingly.

If the front camera is getting a great shot because every one (Bride + Groom + Vicar) are stood where they are supposed to be then you have a little more freedom in shooting with the rear camera. If however they are not all where they need to be - either because they are too far forward / backward or the Vicar is blocking the view (and it does happen) then you need to be concentrating on getting the money shots with the rear camera instead of getting the 'option' shots and B-Roll.

The whole point of multiple cameras is varied shots that can be well edited - and not just one relying on one camera throughout the ceremony (as many one man bands seem to do).

This is pretty much what I am looking for. Battery operated (most churches don't have power available) and just something that can send a good enough signal to see what's in the frame. Do you have any specific models in mind?

Actually Radio Shack sells one. It is AC powered but through a 12VDC transformer. You can make a small gell cell battery run it with a little electrical know how. The range and quality isn't great but it works.

Hmmm Radio Shack :) that's about 3,000 miles away :) But I really appreciate the feedback. Maybe the one in Mapilns will do.
