Wireless Video Transmision Portable

Does anyone know of a good Video transmitter for the DVX? I need one for a live event on this comming New Years. I will be walking around and the video will be shown on a big screen remotely. Ive heard of Lairds products but cant seem to find anything else or whatnot.

I have used the Laird Waveshot 2, and I have to say it's much better than the cheapo "Wavecom" unit I used to use on one particular gig. I work for a company that both sells and rents A/V equipment, and of everything we carry, this was pretty much the only thing that was affordable, fully mobile, and looked at least reasonably high-quality.

It's not perfect, but... well, let me put it this way. The old unit reminded me of those old Al Franken "one-man mobile uplink" bits on "Weekend Update" back in the day; or maybe those "video phone" reports from the early days of the last invasion of Iraq. Compared to that, the Waveshot-2 is a full live satellite link. ;) One thing I'd recommend is a powered UHF antenna to receive it with; although I've yet to try it myself (although I keep meaning to), I have to think it'll be better than the "rabbit ears" I currently use with it.

Oh, and keep in mind that it's a 250-foot line of sight. :)

What sort of a range are you looking at needing in what condistions? Will there be other radio trafic aorund to cause interfearance?
Does it matter if there is any delay (like .5sec) in teh picture?
How important is the gig (and how important is a solid signal)?
And most importantly:
What is your budget? Max and ideal?

Wireless is tough, and when done cheaply is almost guaranteed to fail. It will take a bit of money to get a good, reliable, wireless system.

hmmm

well i will be filming and using it here: http://www.billgrahamcivic.com/

but there will some dj's, lights, but im pretty sure that wont matter. the .5 sec delay is fine and not important if its delayed. my main concern is static. my budget should be under 1000 for that wireless stuff.
