Wireless Start/Stop for my Cable-Cam setup

Hi guys,

Anyone have any ideas for a reliable solution to a wireless Start/Stop button for the FS700? I'm planning on buying a cablecam, and because of the recording time limits associated with 120/240p, I'm looking for a way to trigger the start/stop button while it's traveling down the line (200-300ft away from me).

Thanks!

most sony camera have lanc remote control and the 700 has it.
you can buy a cheap lanc remote control, add a wireless remote control (1 button is ok but they are usually more expensive than the full button ones.).

dismantle the remote, solder 2 wires in place of the rec button, that's it.
depending how good are your ability to deal with solder iron you could decide to choose ready made modules (with case, power and everything)
or just board (even kit with unsoldered components).
choose the right frequency so you are sure it is not easily disturbed.
currently , you have several frequencies like 400 Mhz , 70 Mhz or 2.4 Ghz.
2.4 could be tricky in place where there is an uncontrolled number of wifi network, but 400 Mhz whould be definitely rock solid.
the 2 first are ok, because they feature the non-latch type contact, meaning the receiver relay mimic the remote button (you press, it close, you release, it opens)
that is what you are looking for emulating a remote control button.
Select also one that has a range at least 2 or 3 time of what you need for safety.
(the first link is only 20m and use a variable capacitor, that is a weak way to control frequency)
the 2nd link looks great.

this one looks good (3000 meter) but i am not sur for the description of control (Work Mode: self-locking / interlocking / jog ???), but since it list 3 modes, there is probably one that fits the need.

if you look at RC product (many people have a need to control cam from Flying engine) you can find some products, but they are usually expensive and require a full RC toy remote control, adding even more to the final bill. It could be the right way to go if anyway you already got other function (zoo, til, pan, motor) to control.

Can you not use the IR remote control it comes with? I've not tried but i thought that allowed wireless start and stop, you probably need line of sight to the sensor though

cheers
