Wireless Remote Malfunction?

This week I have been working on mounting my DVX100 on a crane. When I went to use the hand held IR remote control to operate the camera, it did not respond (yes, the battery is fresh).

I know the remote is transmitting and the camera sees it, because in the viewscreen of the camera I see the word "REMOTE" flash in red each time I pressed a key on the remote. But other than the flashed word, the camera does not respond. Funny, it used to work. Is this dummy overlooking something? Is there a setting I may have screwed up somewhere?

And mine is the same. Checked and double checked the remotes battery. went back through the steps in the manual. but nothing. I read somewhere that the internal battery might have something to do with this? it was an unsubstantiated post somewhere I can't find now. This is discouraging. Can anyone help?!
