Just wondering about wireless mics. I am going to purchase one this weekend and I am looking at the senn. ew100 series or the new senn. G2 series. Does anyone know the differences or the best wireless for about 400-450 bucks.

How is the at-897 holding up for everyone. this will probally be my next purchase.

my local pro audio store has g2 in stock for 475.00 but I ordered one from my friend for 425.00 and it will be here monday. The store in S.L.C. that has the g2 is performance audio www.performanceaudio.com but you have to call them because they have not updated the website. I did order the g2 hope it works good. anybody else have one?

Re: Wireless mics(senn ew100 or g2).

I live in Toronto, Canada and got the Sennheiser evolution series G2 wireless at cinequip.

I couldnt believe the price when I bought it 700 CDN. I have used it for 4 full days on a TV show about Organizing and it works very very well. Good range, excellent fidelity and it takes AA's. The other camera on the shoot had an older SONY wireless and it had burnt through the trans batteries in 4 hours at the end of 8 I still had what looked like half left. Very good on power draw. They have provided a hotshoe mount that connects directly to the DVX and the receiver sits flat.

The one thing that was recommended to me was to replace the mic that comes with it with a tram. I chose not to and have been happy with the sound and fidelity of the supplied mic. I have done basic listening to the sound in an edit suite , but have not analyzed the sound in a soundmix suite as of yet. I also have an ME66 on my DVX and I really trust the senn name (Big on stage & theatre shows) so I thought why not try it instead of spending 3X on a sony setup or 5X or a micron diversity. I am really happy I did and I recommend this unit completely.

Hope this helps

thanks gordo88 I like the benifeit of the aa batteries and have heard nothing but good about senn products. Although I am looking at the AT-897 shotgun mic from audio technica versus the me66 mic just due to cost.

I just did an audio recording session for a speaker and I used the Tram TR50 (hard-wired XLR version) as my main mic. For backup, I also wired him with the Sennheiser Evolution 100, using the ME2 microphone.

During the speech, he managed to pull the Tram off and it hit the floor! Thank goodness I had the Sennheiser on him! I got over there pretty quick to re-wire him, but the Sennheiser was the only thing recording for about 30 seconds.

The Tram's sound quality is just luxurious, but I was very impressed with how well the Sennheiser filled in the gap. I was using its stock ME2 mic, and it blended in nicely. I don't know how well it might do for music or whatnot, but for voice the Sennheiser mic was plenty adequate.
