Wireless Mic or Recorder for wedding

I have a Zoom H2, but now thinking of getting either a Sony or Sennheiser wireless mic for some wedding work. Which way would you think is better, save my money and use a H2 with a lapel microphone to attach to the Groom, and sync in the audio later, or invest into a wireless mic. As I uderstand the wireless will not be used much, I am not sure if it is worth the extra investment?

Has anyone tried the both combination, and recommend which will be best?

Cheers
Tom

With the wireless, you maintain control of the recording device. If you just stick the zoom in the groom's pocket, you have zero control or assurance that it's actually doing anything.

if you can't afford a good wireless then rent one. i, and many on this board, would not go any cheaper than a sennheiser g3. and if you do buy it, give yourself a good two weeks to learn its controls and settings.

I use a Sony MP3 recorder in the groom's pocket attached to a lavalier mic on his lapel and have never run into an issue.

A groom that needs more zoom in his pants at his wedding, is indeed a sorry groom...

I had to... the devil made me do it...

But isn't there some thing a bit more slimlined that would be 'good enough'... I've seen references to using something like an iPhone. Even with mp3/44.1k/16bit sampling
it would give better 'sound' than mics that are distant, and wouldn't require a bulky device.
