Wireless Mic for Interviews

Hey guys,

Starting to get into on the spot interviews and am totally new to the mic stuff. I am looking for something to get me going. Doesnt need to be break the bank. Maybe something that is good at cutting out on the background noise. My interview will need to hold it and I would eventually like to add the "logo box" that goes round the mic to show some branding. Any suggestions would be great! Also this will be used on an XHA1

thanks for your time!

Try the search function on DVXUser... just search "wireless mic" in the audio form and you'll get many, many threads that answer this question, which is in one form or another asked almost every day.

But what you many not find discussed... the "logo box" is called a mic flag, and can be added to pretty much any handheld mic. Some wireless systems come with mic that have built-in transmitters, others have plug-on transmitters that will affix to any dynamic hand-held interview mic.

Fluent,

You don't mention a budget but a good place to start would be a ElectroVoice RE50N with a Sennheiser G2 wireless setup. The G2 can be bought with a "buttplug" tranmitter which attaches to the mic base giving you a good wireless interview mic setup and when not needed the RE50/N works great with a wire. The RE50 comes in two models, the N model has a little more output which is a good thing generally and is only $20 more.

The RE50/N needs less wind protection than most mics (saves you $) and has good isolation for handling noise and overall, is very forgiving since you mentioned it will be held by the victim. When not using the RE50 for a mic, it can double as a hammer.

This combo will set you back about $750. Mic only around $175. This is around the minimum for a wireless interview setup which will do a good job.
