Wireless HDMI

I'm exploring options on wirelesly transmitting the fs100's image for a directors monitor - being a lcd monitor, laptop or even an ipad. Im currently leaning towards the Asus Wicast

http://commercial.asus.com/product/detail/67

or this one:

which seems to be a tad bigger, but have a range of 30 meter instead of 10

both are around 200£

For powering the thing I would use this (I think it has been testet to work with the asus, but I dont know if it would work with the other one?):

Or is there a chance that the fs100 outputs power via it's usb.??

Anyone had any experience with these, or similar products?

Let me hear your thoughts.!

Good luck finding the Asus. Retailers have been out of stock everywhere, so the Asus Wicast is going for tons on eBay.

It is just as good as the Brite View Air SyncHD, say several reviews. I am going to buy one of the units soon.

Amazon sells the brite view air syncHD for $10 less than the manf itself. Free shipping also.

Stay away from the cheap wireless - bin there, done that.

Hardly 5 meters of reach and the signal acts up when in full HD 1080 25p or 25i mode.

Brite view air syncHD is your best bet for the buck.
If you got a bigger budget, go for the Teradek Cube.

I own the Brite-view HDelight and have used it a couple times with my FS100. Not sure I would trust it past 25ft or so though unless in an unobstructed space with good line of sight between tx and rx, but despite any limitations it is amazing to not have to worry about wrangling cables and have the director just hold onto his wireless monitor and always have an image without having to follow the camera, especially for handheld/dolly/steadicam/jib. I went with the HDelight since it is cheaper and smaller and it is nice to have hdmi splitting as an option (with a powered hdmi splitter I bought separately) instead of always using extra space and power even if I am not using the additional HDMI output. I power mine with an ebay battery and a 12v>5v converter I took out of a car adapter. Only problem is I accidentally miswired it on my last job, plugging in 12v directly and the transmitter seems to be fried now unfortunately... No response from support, so I wouldn't say I'd expect much from brite view tech support if you have an issue. Then again for the price, buying another one for $140 isnt such a huge deal.

In my tests it only seems to pull about 4-5W.

Teradek is highly compressed so great if you want to give a bunch of people monitoring capabilities, but I'm not sure I'd trust it for any critical image judgements like focus or exposure. If you only need one wireless monitor, brite-view is uncompressed and easy to set up and very affordable compared to teradek.

Check out the Teradek cube. I demo'd one. they work. Not full rez - but made for an ipad.

The teradeck sure looks nice - but pricey. But hey how did you get it onto an ipad2? wifi or??

the brite view looks cool, and in the nicer price range. a bit bulkier than the asus though - or so it seems to me..

I was just watching the AbleCine video on the F65 and there was mention of a wifi device so I checked it out. The Sony CBK-WA01//C WiFi Adaptor, will work with the F3 I wonder if it does with the FS100? It lists for $619.00 and seems quite small. Anyone have one or used one.
Here is the link where it indicates it will work with an F3:

Well, I got the answer to the above from a Very helpful fellow at Able CIne named Matt, so many thanks. It will not work with the FS 100. Too bad, this would be a nice feature to have on set. The C300 has this ability and I know it will be something clients will want. So at this stage it seems the TeraDek is the only route. The Sony adaptor is significantly less expensve and smaller both very appealing also. Anyone from Sony listening?

i woud love to see the teradek become a real solution for on location wireless monitoring
but in reality there is always something that will make the cube a questionable solution.
We bought one and barely use it. At a point where we just bought a swittronix recon.

I finally got my brite view up and running. I bought a small cheap battery bracket and a cable that makes it power the sender via its usb port, and a similar one for the reciever. Both sender and reciever are now bettery driven - working and sending full hd pics wirelesly even through walls. Very sweet indeed.! Sill havent had an opportunity to field test it though but it is running fine so far..
