Any suggestions which one would work best. Also if you can share your experience taking the crane shots with AF100. I am planning to take some high shots with rokinon 35mm, but not sure how to adjust the focus when camera is up on the job.
Ok, on another website found these 4 options that work with AF100 - The BeBob FOXI, the Varizoom VZ-PFI, ROCKDVXZFI and the Manfrotto 521PFI. Can you please share your experiences with them? I read all of them had some issues. E.g. FOXI didn't allow the Lumix 14-140 lens to focus to infinity wfen zoomed in past about 45mm and Manfrotto had some issues with IRIS not opening fully, which was probably fixed later by the manufacturer. Let your views pour in, please!!
None of those are wireless, and none of those would work with the Rokinon or any manual lens. Those are wired remote controllers that work with Lumix lenses.
Thanks Barry,
I had realized that I used the wrong word. I actually meant remote not wireless so that information is still pertinent to my question/s. I updated the thread's subject and can see it updated when I click on the link to read the thread but in the list the subject is still showing word 'Wireless' instead of 'Remote so it is little misleading. Could not figure out how to fix it.
No worries, it just opens up a whole new series of options. You still can't use it with the Rokinon, but if you used a Lumix or Olympus m43-mount lens, you should be able to use any of the remote wired controllers. I have a FoXi and it works fine, once I opened up the unit and adjusted the potentiometers so it would drive the 14-140 to full minimum and maximum. You can get a 16' extension cable from Radio Shack, it's just a regular headphone-style cable (don't remember offhand if it's 2.5mm or 3.5mm).
If you are going to do much crane work, you should probably build a cable bundle which might include cam functions, power, hdmi and or SDI, audio, or more. Loom it up in spiral wrap, or split loom. Whenever you do crane work, all the cables you might need are ready to be tie-rapped to the boom. Badabing, badaboom!
