Wireless boom with lectrosonics

I wanted to ask experienced users what the difference was between (if any) using a 411a as the receiver and either the UM400a/UM400 belt pack Tx or UH400a plug for a wireless boom setup.-

Are these Tx's enough, or is 250mW necessary?
What antenna is recommended?

Also a bonus question would be, what is the difference between UM400a and UM400?

Thanks,

Justin

UM400a = newer model, same basic unit with upgrades.

I prefer using the UH400 for wireless boom for the simple reason that its
all self contained in a tiny package.

Ive heard people say they dont get the same range from the UH400 as they do with the UM
but thats never been the case for me.

as far as 250mW transmitters..all depends on how far you plan on being away
from the receiver, but I personally dont see the need.

If you're going cart based, there are many antenna options..
dipoles and sharkfins seem to be the most common.

I use 1x lectrosonics SNA600 dipole
and 1x PSC sharkfin.

Great thanks for that, about the antennas however, you use two antennas for one signal?

yes, diversity unit.

Most of the time when I use externals I use a homemade antenna distro
system (based off of mini circuits boxes) that splits 1 antenna into 4. (x2 for 2 antenna)

edited: The reason I use the distro is to use 2 antennas with 4x wireless units. (rather than 8 which of course would make no sense)

Awesome, advanced stuff for me but I'll get there someday. Thanks Rippie, always appreciate your responses.
