FS7: wireless audio without the original handle?

I removed the original handle to have a low profile for quick access to the Ronin.
I would like to add wireless audio for direct recording into the camera when I am doing interviews as solo shooter. I already own a Sennheiser EW-ENG G3 set which does the job so far with a Roland R26.

I would like to avoid the extra effort with audio sync in post. What would I need for it? Is there a solution without the handle, even one with the Sennheiser set? Sorry if the questions are a little bit sheepish and many thanks for help.

What's the problem going from the g3 receiver to the XLR input 1?

I have the Sony wireless kit but have removed the handle and MI shoe and so now go straight through the xlr.

I've also upgraded the mic to a tiny wee countryman b6 which is a great little mic.

ok.. thanks Ben. I have almost no clue about audio tech details. So all I need is a 3,5mm cinch to XLR adapter?

yep most kits come with an xlr cable for the receiver. make sure that input is selected in your audio menu and you are good to go.

Thanks for the hint Jason. (I had that already on "MIC" but for dummies like me it's better to know )

If you're looking for a mounting solution without the handle/shoe mounts, velcro tape can be your best friend - a short strip somewhere on the right side of the camera body, and on the back of the wireless receiver. The other common solution is to hang the receiver's belt clip from the cameras hand strap, but depending on your rig that probably won't work for the FS7 due to its long extension arm.

And you might want to check through the original contents of that G3 kit - it should've come with an XLR cable as well as the mini one you're using.

There's a shoe mount adapter CA2 which I already ordered.

I try to avoid velcros for rarely used connections when I can find better solutions. If both parts are not connected they attract dust, straw on my field jobs, my dog's hair and stick to my cashmere shawls (just kidding).

The FS7 comes with an odd little 1 1/2" adapter plate that can screw into a 1/4 - 20 thread. I don't know what its for but I put velcro on both sides and it works great for 2 G3's. I use it with a top cheese plate but I think there's another 1/4 20 on the handle if I recall correctlly.

Yes, something I'll probably never use, and will cross that bridge if i need to. . Meanwhile serves well for G3's though.
