Obligatory anamorphic test video.
Spent a few minutes with a GH3 yesterday morning.

video file can be downloaded on vimeo.

50Mbps IPB. ISO 200.
35mm Lomo anamorphic. Hot Rod PL.
Standard all -5 (which gives a surprisingly flat image)

I think the camera is a nice update. Solid build.
Seems a little less noisy overall, and 800 and 1600 look nice.
No weird solid line thing at ISOs 800+. Dynamic range feels a little wider.
Not having the lcd/hdmi gamma change when you hit record is great.
For these few reasons alone I'd be much more comfortable using it on set.

The music sounds like a drunk cat on a Bontempi organ. :violent5:

Nice video though.

I already commented on the video on Vimeo, but yeah this is great stuff. I think I was just waiting for the "right" kind of footage to convince me, and this might have done it. Same thing with the GH2, at first I couldn't understand it, all the footage I saw looked like plastic (lots of lumix lenses) and I never gave it a second thought until I saw a ridiculous hack test that used a nice vintage prime and completely blew me away.

Since it looks like I'll be waiting at least a few months minimum for a MFT mount BMC, I'm really thinking of picking up the GH3 in the meantime. Anyhow, I hope you post more, who cares if it's not a short or a film, I'd love to see anything remotely like this with any other vintage primes you have, or any other solid lenses that aren't lumix or rokinon / devoid of character.
