Hello everyone, I need some help. I live in Maine (currently) and its starting to get pretty dam cold around here, I plan on shooting some snowboard film(s) later this winter. I know several other users on this site are in a similar situation. so questions.

How does the DVX100b perform in cold weather?

How do i weatherproof it?
-are there accessories (like hoods to keep rain/ snow out) that suit the DVX without hindering its functionality.

And are there certain tripods that suit both portability and quality without breaking the bank? C. $200

Thanks for any assistance.

I never had a problem with my DVX in the cold. Even at 10 degrees it ran fine. Unlike my friends PD-150.

If it snows, just throw either a cheap plastic bag or go for a petrol rain cover.

Not sure about the tripod though. I never use one on the Mtn.

wow- $289!
It depends in what conditions or where you are shooting it. You don't have to worry as much about snow on your camera if it is dry snow (it is really cold snow/ not slush) because it probably wont melt. But if it the first snow of the season and its slushy- definetly get some kind of cover on it.
I thought an ingenious way of doing this (although I am not sure if it will work on the dvx) is this http://www.indymogul.com/weekend-extra/episode/IMWE_20070713

But this will probably only work with rain coming on vertically- snow can still get inside.
