Hi guys, I'am new to this forum and i've been reading this forum for sometime. You guys are really helpful to each other. I have a new HD100 and I'am using it for the first time with the fire wire , but my windows xp is not recognizing the device. Could somebody help me to solve this problem.
thanks for your help.

Did you check device manager? Assuming the IEEE1394 switch on your JVC is set to HDV, it will show up as "AV/C Tape Device" under "Sound, video and game controllers". It does not show up under my computer or in the system tray as a DV camera would.

What software are you using to capture?

Did you power off computer and camera before hooking them up? Hot-swapping this camera is probably not a good idea, especially since it has a 6-pin port.

You could always try a different firewire cable, or hooking it up to a different computer, or try with the IEEE switch set to DV (have to change recording format to DV in the camera menu for this to work).
