Windows/vista 64 advantage?

Is there any speed advantage with running a 64bit OS(as opposed to a 32 bit OS) when using premiere CS3. I have a new computer strictly for editing and I'm think about upgrading my OS to 64bit

thanks

I dont run the 64bit Vista but with my 32 bit vista, I learn to hit the save button every 5 seconds. So that is a plus.

I run maya 8.5, Premiere CS3 and AE CS3 and now I am looking back for my old Win XP 32 SP2 install CD.

OTOH, if you managed to get Vista not to blue screen on you, 64 bit allows bigger RAM memory to be used.

I use 64bit XP, and since Premiere is a 32-bit application, your processor performance is not increased, but... you are able to use more RAM than the 32-bit limit of 3.5GB (2GB without hacks).

64bit also comes with hardware driver headaches (only Epson provides 64-bit drivers for all its printers, for others it's a crap shoot) and some *very rare* software imcompatability.

Bottom line: unless you need the RAM (I know I do in After Effects), you're fine to stick with 32-bit. If you wanna future-proof your system and don't mind doing a little more legwork to insure there are drivers for your hardware, you're fine going 64-bit.

i had windows vista but it was soo buggy and slow i decided to go back to xp.
