Windows 7 "you don't have permission to shut down and restart this computer"

Apparently a recent problem is sweeping WIN7. It just started happening on my desktop tonight but not on my laptop yet.

When I try to restart or shut down Windows via the lower left bar an error comes up
"you don't have permission to shut down and restart this computer" and I can't even though I have admin priv.

So if you guys get this too one workaround is to CTR ALT DEL and then use the lower right box to shut down or restart. Hope that helps.
That works for now. Not sure what is going to come about of this.

Yes I know I can push the power button but then windows thinks it's an improper shut down?

I think Win7 support ended last month?
If I move to Win10 it will likely break all sorts of thing software and hardware-wise.

It will on the restart and will give you an option to start normally or incrementally (safe start, etc.) I usually start normally, if it's a software conflict.

Win10 is much better than 7 and When I made the switch some years ago it went well. Expect a few hiccups but it’s worth it.
