win7 ultimate x64 / vegas 9 x64 - do they play well together? v9 is a little buggy with my vista x64, but I think its more to do with window's tendency to have degenerative peformance over time. its been more then a year since my last "re-build". :violin:

if anyone's running this combo (any version of win7 x64), can you tell me about the problems you've been having with vegas 9, if any?

I'm been running Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit version, 6 GBs RAM, HP Pav. w/AMD Quad processor , with Sony Video Vegas 9.0c 64 bit for about a month now, with no problems that I would attribute to VV 64. I would say that the video card and other crapware that consumer machines get put on them can cause problems. HP consumer DVD player software that came with it caused blue screens but since stripping all unnecessary consumer level software the box is very stable. I really like VV and it handles my large AVCHD files with NO problem, and no conversion prior to rendering. While I am not yet a sophisticated user, I'm intending to continue using this setup and adding the audio editing pieces too. The use of all available RAM to me is worth the pain of some things not working, like certain add ins. Some folks feel this isn't worth the price. It's up to understanding your toolkit.

To be clear, I have a Macbook Pro, and I like iMovie better for simple videos. But for doing more sophisticated work, Sony on windows 7 seems very powerful, for a lot less money than FCP. So I'm sticking for now... until the pain becomes too great (G).

The flickering issue above is more likely the person's graphic card or perhaps a defective camera (I've read their prior threads here) than Sony's issue. I've not had any flickering issues. Nor have I had similar problems with my Panasonic generated AVCHD files.

I'm running 7 Pro 64 on a Vaio laptop with 6 gigs of RAM, a 2.80 Core 2 and a 1gig ATI card and so far I have not had any issues with Vegas 9c and my AVCHD files from my 150.

I'm not worried too much about AVCHD. I mainly work with HDV 1080i (.m2t). I'll make the jump to win7 soon.
