Wimbledon 2010!

I posted that after all the upsets. Now, it's just Serena and a bunch of happy-to-be-theres. Someone upsetting Serena is about the only interesting thing which could happen . . . and it isn't likely.

Besides, I dislike watching Serena, because you're always waiting for the diva drama moment(s).

Anyway, Roddick, following up on what I said above -- attitude counts for a lot, and you want to root for him, you really do, but way too often, he does what he did yesterday -- which is just not show up for work.

I would say that both Venus and Clijsters did the same thing today, though Venus much moreso.

Well, to each his own then... I think watching the reigning champion getting her patootie handed to her on a gilded platter was pretty darn riveting. That was about as entertaining as watching Roddick lose, and about as stunning...

I guess I could see if you were saying "the rest of the women's tournament will be boring" maybe... Will there be anything entertaining to come out of watching three or four relatively unranked/unknown players play for the title? I don't know, we'll see. But I would call this morning's play anything *but* boring.

As far as Serena goes -- like I've said before, she's the most dominant force on the tour. She's the female Federer. There is only one person on the entire tour that can beat her -- and that person is Serena.

As far as "stories" go, I always look for great stories, and when Henin lost, I think the women's game lost its best chance for a great story to emerge this year. When Venus lost, that was another. And when Clijsters lost, that was another. I don't really see what great story could emerge here, unless it's a dramatic win over Serena in the final. Other than that, it looks like it'll be a business-as-usual coronation march, only this time for Serena instead of Venus.

Now, if Serena had won the French, this would be a whole different conversation.

Hence, boooooooring.

Although, I am still working through the DVR of the Kvitova/Kanepi match, and it's 7/6 in the third, and I would hardly call this boring! :P

Yes, when Wimbledon is on, every TV in the house is tuned to it and it's always in the background.

Of course, I had my entire family in town last week, so it occasionally gave way to Avatar: The Last Airbender and iCarly, both of which I had never seen before.

It's probably worth observing the correlation between Federer winning and the absence of Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani from his friends' box.

Meh... remember when the entire tennis community (well, at least all of us in Vegas) blamed Brooke Shields and Agassi's marriage to her, for tanking his career?

Turned out that she was probably completely innocent in it, and instead it was Agassi's newly-found crystal meth habit instead.

So, I dunno how much influence the friends in the box actually have on it; if they have much of an influence, then that would speak poorly of the player's work ethic, no?

They were constantly there during his worst period, and after they weren't, he recovered, so maybe he let things get out of hand for a little while. To his credit, he righted the ship.
