There is no doubt I am going to buy one. I can't wait to get my hands on one and start shooting! I have been following the threads on here about the HVX, it is better than night time TV.

This summer I should have the money and will buy one.

NOTHING else comes close in the under $10,000 price range.

I don't have the money for an HD-cam right now and since I'm not a "pro", I don't need one. And that's a good thing, I'll squeeze everything out of my DVX100A and will see what's about the RED camera and next-gen prosumer HD-cams.

I'm probably gonna get an FX1 or Z1 for now and come back to panasonic in 1-2 years based on prices. I can't build up the money to invest in an hvx AND shoot HD, not in my country.

Wait a minute guys.

"Yes, I would love to buy but it's too expensive."

That doesn't mesh as a response to the question, but wouldn't you know 8% already agree with it.

I'm looking hard at the XDCam HD myself, even though I've been a convert of Panny's stuff since the SDX900 came out, and I liked the Varicam and DVX100 before that. Doing the long-form stuff I do for ESPN and other networks, I just don't like the P2 workflow and don't like to ultimately archive to hard drives (cuz, believe me, they are the least permanent of anything I've worked with). Even though I've watched this forum because I'm interested in lower-cost HD and 24p, I think I would rather stick with the ENG form factor and lens choice that I'm used to, so I think the XDCam or the Grass Valley Infinity might be for me, even thoughj the XDCam sports a 35mbs compression rate (heck, I just viewed some JVC HD100 stuff at our studio, with its seemingly sorry 19mbs compression, and it still looked doggone good - the reds even compressed well, unlike say the DVX100's, which with all its greatness, sucks hard in the reds). HOWEVER, all that said, the HVX would probably be a great choice for commercials. So I guess I'm a neutral vote. I guess I "voted against it before I voted for it," just like the democrat that I am.

Has everyone voted already? Nice to see opinions. Of course there could have been more choices for the poll.

I should point out, I would and in fact NEED to buy one ASAP. I have several projects ON HOLD as I wait for the camera.

Sounds like you need to just rent a Varicam or buy an XLH1. :) But who am I to dictate... Seems silly to place projects "ON HOLD" until a new camera arrives, which could be next week, next month, or even longer.

Yes, But The Pal Version

Yes, But The Pal Version

All my pana equipment is PAL, so my wait is going to be even longer...wish it was switchable. BTW, the tape will just be a nice back up

I'm waiting to see how it works out for other people first. I want to see the pictures, hear how it handled in run & gun situations, how editing went, etc. I'm also concerned about the P2 workflow. I'm used to hand in off or FedEx-ing the tapes off to the client. I'm not going to be sending them my P2 cards and it probably isn't practical to send the footage over the internet.
