Will this work?

Hey guys, there is laptop on sale locally for under $400. It has a 1.83ghz cpu. Do you think this will be fine for viewing footage through the P2 Viewer? It has 512mb memory, but I will upgrade this cause I know this will help performence.

It has shared video memory, but if I add more system memory, I can dedicate up to 224mb for the video, so I know this will help also.

If it is waste, then I wont get it, but for the price, it I lose frames per second cause of cpu speed being slow, then it may not be that big of a deal.

Thanks!

it worked out great. I put the extra 1gb stick in there, and the video ran smooth in p2 viewer. Have not tried transferring footage but I am sure it is reasonable.

That was the first thing I checked.

All I am using it for is P2 related. I am debating on dropping vista and putting XP on it. Vista honestly annoys me. I really got used to 2000 and XP and I have two copies of XP laying around so it may not be a bad idea.

With the maxed out shared video and and nearly maxed out system memory, it works well. I mean, can you complain about the price? A p2 dump station for $400, I am sure happy now.

One VERY annoying little thing with everything Windows are those constant popouts warning me of everything.

Does a Windows user have a way to turn them off?
