Will the Nikon 70-200 2.8 need some sort of support? Rail system?

I have a Nikon 70-200 2.8 that I'd like to use with my FS700. I use it with my Nikon SLR bodies OK, but that's a different thing, as I can support it with my hand. As well, the camera bodies are lighter than the FS700, and thus they can be swung around by the lens with less stress put on the mount.

Should I use some sort of a support with this lens on the FS700? If so, I would assume that it would be along the lines of a rail system, and I have not used one of those yet.

Which support and/or rail system would anyone recommend for this application, with an eye toward future expansion? What kind of an adapter could be used between the rail system and the tripod adapter on the lens?

Many thanks for all info.

I use a Nikon f/2.8 70-200 on my A7S, which has been rigged to the teeth. You will need some form of support with this lens as dangling 3.5-lbs off any adaptor is going to push the limits of reliability. I bought an adjustable riser from eBay:

(Different reseller then the one I got through China, but it looks like the same thing.)

My rails are from Jag35. They work well.

I bought the Vello Nikon to E-Mount with Aperture ring. It's nicely made and works well with all my Nikon lenses so far:

I use my 700 for a ton of motor sports so I need to haul it around with large lenses on it and found 15mm rods a little to flex for that type of work, I now use a bar and clamp system and its rock solid and no way to snap the lens mount.
Its fully adjustable for length and lens foot height from the short 70-200 to the tall 600 f4

Gosh, I have so much more to buy (as one of my ex-girlfriends used to say, I love spending money I just hate paying it).

Ryan, any chance you could send an image of the system you use? RayB, what is the brand of the bar and clamp system?

One of my concerns is that I use an Edelkrone slider a lot, and I need to keep the mount simple for quick switches between the tripod with the slider on it and the one with just the regular head.

Also, since I've never used a rail system before, I really have no idea which direction to go with that. Ryan, what are all the elements I'll need to get to create the system you're talking about?

Many thanks, guys, this is proving to be extremely educational.
