Will the HMC40 ever get a firmware update?

They basically never issue new features in firmware updates. The only reason they would issue a firmware update is if they've identified a bug somewhere.

Didnt the HMC150 get a rolling shutter update? HMC40 I would think has the same issues.

I wouldn't think so - the HMC150 is CCD, the HMC40 is CMOS. I'm not sure that a simple firmware update would do much for rolling shutter anyway, I think that's more of an issue with the sensor itself.

I want a firmware update that will make my HMC41 a look a bit less 1970s, but that ain't going to happen any time soon...

Mike,

The look is great, it is the ultimate guerilla cam. It makes me look like an uncle bob with a 1989 Hitachi VHS. No one notices, they all think I'm just a old nerd. Little do they know, I really am a old nerd.

Know what you mean, Grant. I think it's just nerds like me who think it looks old-fashioned. People come up to me and ask if I'm the BBC! (The fools!)

The form factor is great, a small backpack is all I need for a day's filming. Along with 20 lbs of Vinten tripod. :)
