I'm jumping into the deep end with my current project. Initially devised as a short, during the writing process I decided the project could be feasable as a full-length movie.
I have no experience with the HVX (the last camera I filmed with was a Canon XL1-S in 2001) but I saw one yesterday and it was a beauty to handle and looks like it is going to be easy to shoot with.
I'm going to be filming in Mumbai, India - because that is where the story is set and it is damn cheap to shoot there. Rental price for the HVX comes to 3500 rupees ($90) a day plus an extra 600 rupees for an 8GB P2. Footage will be offloaded on to a 200GB Firewire HDD via a laptop, and edited on Mac workstations with FCP.
Steadicam prices are good too - 10,000 rupees a day ($200) including a Steadicam operator. The entire shoot will be handheld and Steadicam work.
Aside form the above I'm going to search around for an m2 adapter and Nikon lenses. This will be my first time going manual with digital equipment so I have a lot of learning to do quickly. Also, is there anything I should know about shooting with the HVX and Nikons in hot and very sunny weather (up to 40 celsius)?
I'll keep DVXUser's forums up to date with footage from the shoot and want to thank you all in advance for any assistance you can give when I need help.
Thanks,
Aron
