Will Sony put out a low budget CineAlta camera?

Saw this on another thread...I wonder what else this camera might do. 24p Maybe?

And before someone starts screaming "Sony will never put out a low budget Cinealta". To reiterate..I wasn't originally speculating about a Cinealta in the first place, just a 24p HD prosumer level camera from Sony.

Depends on what you define as the "prosumer" price point. The XDCAM HD camera being mentioned there is a 1/2" CCD system, and while I don't think any details are known about it yet, I'd be surprised if it was less than $20,000. The cheapest XDCAM camera out right now costs $20,000, and that's for DVCAM only, not HD.

And, I'd be shocked and flabbergasted (yes, both!) if it includes HD24P.

But, theoretically it's due to be unveiled in just a few weeks, so we'll know soon enough!

I'm with Barry on that...doesn't sound like a prosumer camera to me.

The specs on the HD XDCAM are nice. Though I am puzzled by the 1/2" ccd decision. As a result it isn't exactly a good upgrade path from the current XD. I don't believe that this will be the only HD XDCAM forthcoming however.

There are some other specs for this camera, but I can't tell you what they are just yet due to restrictions.
