Will someone please look at their HVX200a LCD?

I've returned two HVX200a cameras to B&H and the issue is not resolved. Here it is: in any HD mode, as I close the iris (turning the screen to near black) I see major posterization in the image -- a blocky, ugly, staticky image. This does NOT happen in SD modes, nor does it happen in any mode in my original HVX200.

Please assure me I'm not crazy by looking at your HVX200a LCD and reporting what you see. In any HD mode, as you close the iris do the low-light areas of the image turn a smooth black, or do they become blocky/staticky and look terrible?

This has nothing to do with the recorded image, which looks fine on computer. It's an issue of a bad LCD that can't be relied upon for an accurate image in low-light in HD. Is it just the cameras I'm receiving?!

Thank you!

no. your camera is perfectly fine, and this had me worried at first to, as i thought my footage was this way. i purchased an ikan monitor and couldn't be happier.

It's good to know I'm not the only one seeing this (I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere on the web). Still, I can't believe that Panasonic actually made their LCD worse on the new model!

UPDATE: I spoke with tech support at Panasonic. I had the tech check his HVX200A while we spoke, and he saw the same artifacts. To his knowledge, Panasonic was not previously aware of the issue, and he'll pass along the info.

This artifact does not appear in the original HVX200 camera. And it only appears in HD modes on the HVX200A.

How will this affect owners? If you're stuck in a lowlight situation and shooting wide open (as a primarily documentary shooter, I find myself in that situation more often than I'd like), the artifacts can be extreme enough to make it difficult to focus or know how usable the shot is. Not the end of the world, but certainly an annoyance that I hope Panasonic fixes.
