will Odyssey 7Q support LUT?

I seem to remember Dan saying that they intend to allow you to load LUTs into the O7 - as to how far down the upgrade path that will come up, however, is another matter.

Spectracal sells a product called Calman5 that will generate a LUT for your monitor based on real time measurement of your screen with a spectrophotometer. Spectracal also sells a new product from Fuji that performs the LUT Box function. So, if you have a LUT defined, you can put the Fujifilm box inline and it will apply the LUT to whatever downstream monitor you have. This is just fantastically cool!!

If you haven't clued in to what I'm saying, here....consider shooting SLog2, feeding the SDI output thru the Fujifilm LUT box, and viewing a "normel, real time corrected image on your external monitor/recorder.

Dear Friends,

With our initial firmware for the Odyssey7Q, we will support LUT's. Thus you will be able to apply LUT's or not, as desired.

(LUT = Look Up Table, used to modify an image.

One great use of a LUT is to convert a Log Image to a Recommendation 709 Image for easy viewing.

Recommendation 709 is also called Rec. 709 or just Rec 709.

There are many other uses for LUT's.)

We will support the Sony Slog-2 LUT and others.

For others, I am including many LUT's for the ARRI ALEXA and Canon C500.

The ALEXA is interesting. In our ARRIRAW Option for the ALEXA, when the Exposure Index in the ALEXA is changed, then we automatically detect this and then load in an appropriate LUT.

We will support 3D LUT's.

We will support user loadable, custom LUT's, but this will come in a later firmware release.

I hope this helps.

Respectfully,
